Entries are now open for the 10th CinefestOZ Film Festival, with a chance to win a $100,000 grand prize.
The CinefestOZ Film Festival, held 23-27 August 2017, premieres feature films in various locations throughout the seaside centres of Busselton, Bunbury, Dunsborough and the Margaret River wine region.
Entry categories are open in short film, youth and feature films.
Previous winning entries have gone on to secure cinematic release as well as the $100,00 cheque.
CinefestOZ Film Prize 2016 winner, Girl Asleep, had its cinematic release in September 2016 and went on to receive seven AACTA nominations including Best Film, winning the AACTA for Best Costume Design. It also screened at several international film festivals, securing award nominations along the way, winning the Futurewave Youth Jury Award and Grand Jury Prize for Best Film at the Seattle International Film Festival.
In 2014, the inaugural CinefestOZ Film Prize was won by the family friendly, Robert Connolly-directed film, Paper Planes, which performed strongly after its 15 January 2015 cinema release, raking in $9.65 million at the Australian box office.
Filmmakers wishing to submit a feature film that is ineligible for the Film Prize may submit in the General Features category, a category open to Australian and Australian co-production feature films.
