Aardman and STUIOCANAL have released a teaser trailer for their upcoming film, Early Man. The film, set for release in early 2018, is directed by Nick Park, the genius behind films such as Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run and Creature Comforts.
This adventure/comedy follows caveman Dug (Eddie Redmayne), his companion Hognob and a band of fellow cavepeople, in their struggle against Lord Nooth (Tom Hiddleston). Featuring an all-star British cast, including Richard Ayoade, Maisie Williams, Timothy Spall and Selina Griffiths, the film is set to be a hilarious romp through the caveman’s prehistoric world!
Featuring the iconic clay-animation style from other Aardman and Park films, Early Man looks like an attempt to return to long-form story-telling, in the same ilk as The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. It’s been over a decade since this film was released, and since then, Park has been working on television series like Shaun the Sheep and Creature Comforts. It will be interesting to see if the characters in Early Man are as unique and memorable as we expect from Aardman, and whether the potential success of this film will lead to a new era of similar films, possibly even sequels and shorts following Dug and his band of misfit cavemen and women.
Early Man opens in cinemas March 29, 2018. Check out the teaser trailer below:
