Is another Mission Impossible on its way?

The answer to that is yes! Director Christopher McQuarrie confirmed that the upcoming Mission Impossible film has officially began production.

The sixth installment from Paramount Pictures will see the return of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, along with Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner. Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) and Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) have also joined the cast.

The director recently noted that more familiar faces from past installments will be returning to the new film. McQuarrie, who is the only director to helm more than one Mission Impossible project to date, has taken on writing duties again.

Not much is known of the storyline but we do know McQuarrie wishes to delve into an emotional journey for Ethan Hunt. Additionally, Cruise recently revealed that he’s been preparing for a sequence in the upcoming film for a year. That’s what we call dedication.

The current release date for Mission Impossible 6 is July 2018.
