They’ve been teasing us with this with sneak peeks for the last couple of days and now the full trailer for KINGSMAN:THE GOLDEN CIRCLE has arrived on the Internet like a telegraphed punch to the solar plexus.
When KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE hit international screens in 2015 it was a bonafide US $400 million box office smash. Almost nothing that size isn’t a sequel or a re-boot these days, but this was an exception. Director Matthew Vaughn (KICK ASS, X-MEN:FIRST CLASS) and screenwriter Jane Goldman successfully adapted Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons comic book series The Secret Service and kicked off what looks like being a solid action franchise. The book and the film succeeded by channelling the feel of classic Bond, much as the Austin Powers series had earlier, but with more violence, action, stunts, computer graphics and did we mention violence?
The full trailer for the sequel KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE is short on pineapple references for fans of the Australian canned-fruit brand, but makes up for it by revealing the destruction of Kingsman HQ, some bullwhip moves, slo-mo vehicular mayhem and a runaway cable car. Also on offer, the appearance of Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore and of course the return of Taron Egerton as Eggsy.
You’ll have some time to shine those oxfords, don your bespoke suit and make sure your pocket square is straight as KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE doesn’t release in Australia until September. Until then, cue Old Blue Eyes and get ready to enjoy that trailer.
