More Alien on the way…..

More Alien on the way…..

You can’t keep a good Xenomorph down, with the new Alien film Covenant out and about in cinemas at the moment, Ridley Scott has been making a few comments about the series, including the fact that he’s already working on plans for the next film, which will slowly edge us closer to his original.

Further to that however, Scott has also been reported to comment that audience reaction to his previous film Prometheus, was certainly considered when making Covenant. In fact, he’s gone so far as to say that satisfying the fans and giving them more of what they want, was something he’s tried to deliver with Covenant.

Having seen the film his comments certainly ring true in what he tried to achieve, Covenant takes a different approach to Prometheus with a more grounded delivery of story and answers to the questions it raises, while going so far as to give more certainty and context to some of the mysteries pontificated by Prometheus even.  But with that in mind, it falls short of the series former glory of Alien and Aliens, while giving a lot of creative freedom to where the next film might go.

It appears that Scott is planning to start filming his Covenant sequel soon though, as early as mid next year potentially, so it doesn’t look like we’ll have to wait very long before finding out where things are heading. In the meantime, check out Covenant currently showing in theaters, it’s no Aliens but it’s well ahead of the series low points.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
