Flickerfest 2018 has hit Perth. Mosman Park’s Camelot Outdoor cinema is again the atmospheric venue for this curated festival that shows filmgoers the best of contemporary short films from around the world.
Opening night was the best of the Australian Shorts and left the audience in no doubt that there is great deal of talent emerging in this country. There is always a sense of anticipation watching these new short films because the filmmakers put everything into their movies; these are their calling cards, signalling a possible career ahead. The 2018 crop of films is amazing. For the audience, every ten to fifteen minutes there are new faces and new worlds to see. Once again, opening night showed that Flickerfest is the event for film lovers who want a glimpse of the film-making future. And as always, the Mosman Park venue proved to be a lovely place to see great cinema under the stars.
Tonight (Saturday 3rd March) is the Best of International Shorts sees films from Canada, UK, Sweden , New Zealand, and the Czech Republic in the mix.
Sunday night (Saturday 4th March) is a curated selection of the funniest shorts with Short Laughs Comedy. The laughs will come thick and fast with with international films from UK, Netherlands, Spain and Germany and a solid number of homegrown Australian comedies.
