Composer Pinar Toprak will be the first woman to score a major superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after she was signed to score Marvel’s upcoming film Captain Marvel.
Set in the 1990’s. Captain Marvel will be the first female-led film in the MCU, and stars Academy Award-winner Brie Larson in the titular role, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, and Clark Gregg. The film will be helmed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
Toprak, who spent time programming at Hans Zimmer’s studio, went on to score for television, games and film, including scoring the first season of SyFy’s Superman prequel series Krypton, as well as writing additional music for the DC film Justice League. Toprak has also worked on the soundtrack for the popular game Fortnite as well as the upcoming Netflix spy thriller The Angel.
Toprak said of her latest role:

Captain Marvel is set for release in March 2019 and will be the twenty-first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Avengers: Infinity War, which has become the top-grossing superhero film of all time at the global box office.
