Ghostbusters 3 is moving forward, a direct sequel to the 1989 Ghostbusters 2 – Jason Reitman the son to Ivan Reitman who directed the first two original Ghostbusters films will be behind the camera this time around and has been secretly working on the film for months! You know Jason’s work from Juno, Up in the Air, Thank You For Smoking, Young Adult, and last year’s Tully to the upcoming Hugh Jackman flick The Front Runner.
Jason recently talked to Entertainment Weekly and said “I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan, when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ‘80s happened in the ‘80s, and this is set in the present day.”
I do wonder how much of the original crew will be involved in this one, I’m kind of hoping because Jason is involved the others will sign on sadly Harold Ramis who played Dr. Egon Spengler, died in 2014.. so now we wait for Bill, Dan and Ernie to let us know whats happening. This film will also have nothing to do with Ghostbusters: Answer the Call and will ignore it completely.
Rumour has it the film will feature four teenagers, two boys and two girls.. but who knows!
Ghostbusters 3 is due to hit cinemas in 2020, so I guess it will start filming rather soon.
