The 2019 Oscar Nominations happened last night and as always there’s some really massive snubs but also some great surprises!
I think the biggest Snub of the night goes to Damien Chazelle’s First Man the film was pretty much shut out of all the major categories and only picking up a couple of nods on the technical side of things. Bradley Cooper didn’t get a directing nomination even though A Star is Born was nominated in pretty much all the major’s so it was slightly disappointing but I feel maybe it was because it was his first film behind the camera and there was some other solid contenders he missed out. Also I totally expected Mission Impossible to pick up a technical nomination or two but it came away with nothing! Surprises… its great to see Black Panther get a nomination for Best Picture, the two leads of Roma Alitza Aparicio for Best Actress and Marina De Tavira for Best Supporting Actress. The list could go on and on but those are the mains for me.
Roma and The Favourite lead with 10 nominations apiece. A Star is Born and Vice landed eight nominations each, while Black Panther received seven. BlacKkKlansman received six nominations, edging out Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody, which received five. Can You Ever Forgive Me and If Beale Street Could talk received three nominations each.
The Academy Awards will air in the states on Feb. 24 which is the morning of the 25th for us.
