The team behind FRINGE WORLD Festival and Rooftop Movies has announced the 2019 winter season of Girls School Cinema, including a special Girls Night In movie marathon session.
Housed in a stunning castle-like building in East Perth, Girls School Cinema 2019 season features a revamped and ultra-cosy bar and lounge where you can enjoy delicious mulled wine or head to the courtyard for pre-movie marshmallow toasting around the open fire-pits.
The Girls Night In 10-hour marathon session is going to be epically glam-packed with unlimited Tim Tams and more treats to be announced. The film line-up features some of your favourite early 2000’s romantic movies such as Cinderella Story, The Notebook, Chasing Liberty and Ella Enchanted. Pyjamas are encouraged.
Mack Daddy’s New York Slice has come on board for the 2019 season so you can pre- order their famous and most cheesy pizzas and snacks via the Girls School Cinema website all season long.
Girls School’s grand cinema hall is the cosiest place to enjoy a winter evening with free blankets and new Premium Couples Lounge Seating Package. Girls School Cinema runs from 17 May to 12 October every Wednesday to Sunday. Tickets are on sale now at girlsschoolcinema.com.au and start at just $17 for standard admission.
Where is Girls School Cinema?
Girls School Cinema is located in the heritage Old Perth Girls School building that sits at the highest point of East Perth at 2 Wellington Street. It’s conveniently located close to loads of cheap parking and short drive from the Perth CBD. Girls School has free parking for the first 50 cars on site, after that there is a huge City of Perth carpark across the road with the cheapest rates in the city.
The YELLOW CAT Bus Stop 29 is outside the front door and RED CAT Bus Stop 3 is across the road. The building is a 5 – 15 minute walk from McIver and Claisebrook train stations depending on how game ready your power walk is.
What treats and eats are there?
Girls School Cinema is more than just the movies. We’ve created a cinema experience that feels like a deluxe movie night in the lounge of your best mate’s place…if your mate was The Great Gatsby.
There’s a candy bar with all your favourite treats including fresh hot popcorn, sweet and savoury snacks and packs of marshmallows to toast around the open courtyard firepits.
Mack Daddy’s New York Slice is providing their famous pizzas and snacks via pre-order when you purchase your ticket online. Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan pizza and side options are available.
There’s also a revamped and ultra-cozy bar and lounge with refreshing drinks from our friends at Madfish Wine and Gage Roads including warming mulled wine for those wintry nights.
Girls School’s grand cinema hall is the cosiest place to enjoy a winter evening with cute individual tables for you to perch your bevie and popcorn on and free snuggle blankets if you want to get really comfy. For an ultra-luxe experience, you can also get the Couple Lounge Seating with an extra-large bean lounge for two, including bottomless popcorn and a drink each.
What is the Old Perth Girls School?
The historic 1930s Old Perth Girls School building is iconic in its ‘Egyptian Art-Deco’ grandeur (it’s a thing apparently – check out the pyramids on the roof!). The castle-like building operated as a school for thirty years and then a Police centre for fifty years. Some remember going to school there. Others remember going there for traffic branch business. A few remember going there to visit major crime and the dog squad. Some of them are still in prison.
Earlier this year, Girls School hosted the FRINGE WORLD Festival run-away success event A Midnight Visit. Part choose-your-own-adventure, part theatre, part film-set, part playground; A Midnight Visit transformed 34 rooms into an unbelievable fantasy world, introducing a whole new audience to the area.
Girls School Cinema is one part of a larger plan to transform this historic building into a thriving creative precinct.
