Johnny Depp Goes Into Publishing

Johnny Depp Goes Into Publishing

Is there anything this man cannot do? Johnny Depp is branching out into the publishing industry, helping to run a new publishing imprint named after his production company.

Far from starting small, Depp’s first book off the press will be The Unraveled Tales of Bob Dylan, which aims to set the record straight on the songwriter’s enigmatic life and career and will be complied and based in part on interviews with Dylan by best-selling historian Douglas Brinkley.

Depp’s imprint will share its name with his production company, Infinitum Nihil, meaning “Nothing is forever.” The imprint will be part of HarperCollins Publishers, which announced that Depp will seek “authentic, outspoken and visionary ideas and voices.”

Oozing his usual cool, Deep issued this statement: “I pledge, on behalf of Infinitum Nihil, that we will do our best to deliver publications worthy of peoples’ time, of peoples’ concern, publications that might ordinarily never have breached the parapet. For this dream realised, we would like to salute HarperCollins for their faith in us and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship together.”

(Honestly, as if HarperCollins was really going out on a limb here: who would say no to anything Depp suggests? He’s a walking pot of gold…!)

Depp’s has a history of bookish rock star tendencies:  In 2010, he narrated half of the audio edition of Keith Richard‘s memoir, Life.  Depp also enjoyed a literary relationship with close friend Hunter S. Thompson, who he has played in several movies.

The Dylan book is scheduled for 2015.

Sian's love for movies spawned from having a tight mother whose generosity stretched only to hiring movies once a week for entertainment. As a pre-teen Sian spent more pocket money then she earned on cinema tickets and thus sought a job at the cinema. Over the next decade she rose to be one of the greats in her backwater, six-screen cinema complex, zooming through the ranks from candy bar wench with upselling superpowers, to pasty projectionist, to a manager rocking a pencil skirt. Sian went on to study Journalism at university though feels her popcorn shovelling days were far more educational
