We’ve been following all the news on the Robocop remake here at AccessReel with momentum seeming to continue towards the new film hitting screens. Last we heard on the project was that actor Joel Kinnaman had been cast as the cyborg cop.
Kinnaman has recently been quoted as saying that the character in the new film is going to be much more human that how he was depicted in previous films. Kinnaman has also stated that there will be plenty of throwbacks and references to the original films, but that this version is going to be more of an acting piece that what’s been done before, both for Alex Murphy and Robocop.
Supposedly the new costume is going to allow for more of that acting to come through on camera, Kinnaman has stated that:
It’s not going to be jaw action. They’re still working on the suit and how it’s going to look, but the visor is going to be see-through
You’re going to see his eyes.
So there you have it, looks like we are getting more of a feeling Robocop this time around, and while it sounds like they are going to try and do something a little different with the story, it’s difficult not to be at least a little alarmed by this potential take on the character. With so little detail to go on, we’ll just have to wait for more information and hopefully a trailer to see how it looks like this one is shaping up.
