Embracing all screen forms from new, established and emerging screen practices across 18 categories, the inaugural WA Screen Culture Awards, presented by Revelation Perth International Film Festival, was a fitting way to close the 23rd annual film festival at Luna Cinemas on Sunday 13 December. The critically acclaimed award-winning short film JUDAS COLLAR which made the Oscar’s Best Live Action Short Film Category Long List last year, stole the show taking home 5 awards (and every one of their nominations); Netflix’s I AM MOTHER took the gong for Innovation in Virtual Reality 360° or Augmented Reality and the awards also recognised the outstanding contribution of Production Designer Clayton Jauncey (Rams, The Furnace, Hounds of Love, Last Cab to Darwin).

The introduction of the WA Screen Culture Awards fits with Revelation’s long-standing commitment to local screen practitioners and industry and marks the first time in five years that the Western Australian screen industry has had an official awards platform.
