With ‘Avengers’ just around the corner we can still look beyond 2012 for more films in the marvel lineup including ‘Thor 2’ which is currently targeting a 2013 release.
Patty Jenkins whom has directed a number of TV series including ‘Arrested Development’ and ‘Entourage’ as well as the film ‘Monster’ starring Charlize Theron was previously attached to the new Thor film though it now appears she has left the project.
It has been reported that Jenkins has left due to creative differences, consequently Marvel Studios will be seeking a new director quickly as taking into account filming and post-production time requirements a 2013 release date isn’t that far away.
It has been previously announced that Kenneth Branagh whom directed the original Thor film would not be continuing with the franchise and that Jon Favreau left the Iron Man franchise after the first sequel. Pure speculation, however given the nature of the films taking place in Marvel’s Avengers universe, and the limitations in that each film is required to fit around a larger macro plot with threads running across several franchises, could this be turning some film makers off due to a lack of creative control?
