A reboot of ‘The Crow’ franchise has been rumoured to be in development for some time, based on a comic book series by James O’Barr in the 1990’s the original film adaptation was produced in 1994 with Brandon Lee in the headlining role. Aside from film and comics ‘the Crow’ franchise was also adapted into a short lived television series in 1998. The reboot film has just run into a new stumbling block with the departure of its lead actor.
Bradley Cooper had been cast in the central role for the rebooted film franchise however it is now being reported that he has departed the project due to scheduling conflicts. Cooper is currently attached to ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ which also stars Ryan Gosling and is currently filming, as well as two other projects both in pre-production including director David O. Russell’s ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, and director Alex Proyas’s ‘Paradise Lost’.
With Cooper’s departure we’ll have to wait for new casting announcements on who will step in to fill the lead role. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is rumoured to currently be attached as director for the reboot, his previous works include the 2007 film ’28 Weeks Later’.
