Moore Cast as Sarah Palin

We here at AccessReel usually have our eyes up on the big screen, but we’ve also enjoyed many an hour of HBO television. The Time Warner cable network is responsible for some of the best TV of recent years; The Sopranos, Sex and The City, Deadwood and The Wire to name but a few of their greatest hits.

So HBO’s announcement today that Julianne Moore is to play former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin got our attention.  The network is making an adaptation of Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s book “Game Change”. The book deals with the details of Senator John McCain’s unsuccessful 2008 Presidential campaign.

The critically acclaimed Moore is well-known for her roles in movies like BOOGIE NIGHTS (1997), THE HOURS (2002) and THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT (2010) She has been nominated for an Oscar three times and won a Silver Bear of Berlin.

GAME CHANGE will be directed by the man responsible for the Fockers’ trilogy as well as the Austin Powers films, Jay Roach. The screenwriter is Danny Strong who along with Roach was responsible for RECOUNT, an HBO television film that dealt with the controversy surrounding the vote counting in Florida during the 2000 Presidential election. Strong is better known for his acting work having played the character of Jonathan Levinson in the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER over a number of seasons.
