Matt Day is well known to Australian audiences, having worked extensively in film, television, and theatre. Matt’s numerous film roles include the international hit film Muriel’s Wedding, the critically acclaimed Love and Other Catastrophies; the award-winning My Year Without Sex and Kiss or Kill – which saw him nominated for an Australian Film Festival award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. Recent film credits include the independent feature film Touch, Warwick Thornton’s feature film Sweet Country alongside Sam Neill, and the drama/thriller Reaching Distance.
Matt’s recent television appearances include the four-part SBS mini-series The Unusual Suspects and reprising his role of Dr Samuel Bramson in the third series of Harrow. He was also recently seen opposite Tim Draxl in the ABC series In Our Blood, and in channel Nine’s new drama Human Error.
Matt most recently starred is the Binge comedy drama series Strife alongside Asher Keddie.
For the film RUNT – Craig Silvey’s beloved best-selling novel leaps onto the big screen in a charming new Australian family movie. RUNT is the heartfelt and hilarious tale of eleven-year-old Annie Shearer and her best friend Runt, an adopted stray dog with remarkable abilities. In a bid to save their family farm, the two aspire to compete in the Agility Course Championships at the prestigious Krumpets Dog Show in London, whilst overcoming hurdles, obstacles and nefarious villains.
