The 2012 MTV Movie Awards has just finished for another year and once again it is filled with some memorable moments and some we would just love to forget. Russell Brand opened the show in his usual over the top and extravagant ways but he did quite well, but it seemed to me his infatuation with Michael Fassbender’s full-frontal nudity from the movie SHAME was to easy not to poke fun at.
Fassbender was sitting in the second row next to his Prometheus co-star Charlize Theron and Brand was to scared to get Fassbender ‘aroused’, “He’s sitting in the second row… I could lose an eye,” Brand said. Brand even brought up his short marriage to Katy Perry and discussed Justin Bieber.
Here’s a few highlights of the show –
Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender presenting the award for “Best Fight” Fassbender proceeded to announce that he will “Take the Lead, as hes Irish and a man” so Charlize took charge and punched and kicked him to the ground where he remained until the winners were announced.
Johnny Depp received the ‘Generation Award’ which was presented to him by legendary Aerosmith rockers Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. Which was followed by an incredible montage of all of Depp’s cinematic masterpeices then he appeared on stage and played guitar for two songs with The Black Keys!
Gary Oldman, Christian Bale and Joseph-Gordon Levitt made an entrance on stage with the Bat Suit proudly in display behind them presenting footage from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ but before that they showed a montage of bits from ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘The Dark Knight’ in which also featured footage of Heath Ledger’s portrayal as ‘The Joker’ after that finished cutting back to Christian Bale barely being able to speak as he see’s his good mate Ledger on screen was quite a powerful moment. Then onto a 1minute 30ish sneak peek of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ with some new footage and some we have seen already either way I’m pumped!
In all the MTV Movie Awards were a lot of fun, but just not as fun as years past…. Back in the day when Jimmy Fallon hosted it just seemed they put a lot more into them, anyways its still a great way roll on next year.
