There are reports that Christian Bale could be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The word is Bale is in talks to join director Taika Waititi’s THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER. Already signed up are Chris Hemsworth (naturally) and Tessa Thompson. There is no word whatsoever on who Bale might be playing. Obviously “Thor Lore” is rich in Marvel Comic backstory that Waititi can use, but there’s every chance Bale could play an entirely new character. His addition to the MCU could yield a great performance from this fine actor. We will keep our eyes peeled for confirmation of this story.
This would be Bale’s first excursion a super-hero universe since his celebrated turn in DC’s Dark Knight trilogy that ended with THE DARK KNIGHT RISES in 2012. Also of note, is the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster for the first time since THOR: THE DARK WORLD. Unused footage of Portman from THOR: THE DARK WORLD was used in AVENGERS ENDGAME. Jane Foster is expected to follow the character’s path in the comics and take up the mantle of Thor.
THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER is due for release in November 5, 2021.
