AccessReel Reviews – Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never is the inspiring true story and rare inside look at the rise of Justin from street performer in the small town of Stratford, Ontario to internet phenomenon to global super star culminating with a dream sold out show at the famed Madison Square Garden in 3-D.

You know that feeling when you are extremely uncomfortable and you try to think of an exit strategy? Well that’s what I thought a couple of nights ago while I was sitting back waiting for JUSTIN BEIBER: NEVER SAY NEVER to start. I don’t know if it was the fact I was basically the only guy over 25 that wasn’t there with either a girlfriend or there kids so it was slightly awkward! But I’ve always said I will go and see any film and that includes this one.

As soon as the lights went down and the fifty plus 14 year old girls that were sitting behind me stopped screaming I started to relax and just decided to take it all in.. for the next 105 minutes I was just quietly blown away.. Now let me explain, the Production Value alone for this documentary is impressive and I also think Paramount Pictures made a sensational decision to screen the film in the TITAN cinema at Belmont Readings, the sound in that cinema just thumps and honestly my hearing was shattered for a good 30minutes after I walked out as well but it was worth it.

What you have here is a documentary/biopic about an extremely talented young boy, now I thought he had some talent but I just didn’t realise how much. The film itself consists of a bunch of home movies spliced with concert footage and behind the scenes footage, also some of the most hilarious parts of the film are when they are interviewing fans outside the arena’s before and after the concerts, its set about 10 days before his first ever sold out concert at Madison Square Gardens, the pinnacle of Concert Arena’s in the United States. I did really expect one big marketing machine pushing him and basically making him one big ‘product’ but what I actually saw was a young boy, who had a dream. This film does prove that dreams can actually come true and there is one moment in the film where you could visibly see he was shattered and broken but all he wanted to do was get on stage, I really give that kid props.

This film was mostly shot in 3D except for the YouTube parts and the behind the scenes footage.. so I will say this now, 3D is the only way you should watch this film it is made for 3D so see it the way it is intended. There are cameos by Usher, Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg, Boyz II Men, Sean Kingston, Ludacris and Jaden Smith.

JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER is in cinemas on the 7th April; I give this film 4 out of 5 stars.
