When you walk into a Resident Evil film you expect to sit back and have fun and my god I did have fun! Paul W.S. Anderson is back once again in the directors chair for this time a State-of-the-art 3D experience. The 3D is absolutely impressive, I also saw it in IMAX so that may have helped but evenstill I have not seen a 3D movie this good I think, ever. I will even say that honestly I felt the 3D was better then Avatar and funnily enough the cameras they used to film RESIDENT EVIL:AFTERLIFE are the same camera’s that James Cameron used on Avatar.
Milla Jovovich repises her role of Alice once again and this time commands the screen and as always makes this franchise a sensational thrill ride, she just has such a charisma I could just watch her in this role over and over again for many years to come. Ali Larter is also back as Claire from the last Resident Evil and shes just way more kick-ass in Afterlife then Extinction theres one scene in particular that just blew my mind I actually sat forward in my seat. All the other performance’s were fairly good a few notable mentions Wentworth Miller(Tv’s Prison Break), Boris Kodjoe(Surrogates) and Kim Coates(TV’s Sons of Anarchy).
RESIDENT EVIL:AFTERLIFE is by far the second best in the series so far but pretty damn close to the first one, notably the visuals were just stunning you just have to see the opening 10minutes to see that. I would love to see this film be nominated for some Visual Effects awards but being a Resident Evil movie I don’t really see that happening. There was only one sequence in the film that the CGI fell over a bit, but I’m not going to go into much detail because theres really no point, the film as a whole was amazing and I can’t wait for the next one.
So in closing if you really want to see a film where you can just have fun, take your friends, grab some popcorn, then this film is it. There’s nothing really better then seeing Zombie’s getting there head blown to bits and blood/brain flying out the screen towards you is it? I Think not….
RESIDENT EVIL:AFTERLIFE is in Cinema’s now and I give it a 4 out of 5. I’ve also added a Featurette below for you guys to check out.
