From the man who brought us Bubba Ho Tep and the 1970s cult horror classic, Phantasm, comes an even more bizzare, disturbing and creative genre film. Based off the book “John Dies At The End” , written by Jason Pargin (under the pseudonym David Wong) and released last year, the film of the same name will be assaulting our rational minds sometime next year, with Don Coscarelli doing what he does best; weird us the hell out.
I will be sharing a trailer with you of a very strange nature, be warned it may not agree with those who wish to know exactly what is going on. To give you a hint the synopsis of the novel is as follows. “It’s a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. On the street they call it Soy Sauce, and users can drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human”.
Suddenly a silent, otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity?”
Seems pretty straight forward right? As with most things, the devil is in the detail and who would ask for a more perfect director to take that ride with?
Watch it for yourself and let me know if you’re as excited as I am.
“John Dies At The End” will star Chase Williamson, Rob Mayes, Paul Giamatti, Clancy Brown, Glynn Turman, Doug Jones, and Angus Scrimm.
