Based on Rosemary Sutcliff’s novel The Eagle of the Ninth, the movie is set in Roman-ruled Britain and tells the story of a young Roman soldier endeavors to honour his father’s memory by finding his lost legion’s golden emblem.
The film stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell and Donald Sutherland. It is directed by Kevin Macdonald who made TOUCHING THE VOID and THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND. THE EAGLE opens in Australia today.
