In light of the rumours surrounding a remake of the film Oliver! (1968), we thought we’d put together a dream cast – the best actors to play the main roles!
Fagin played by Ron Moody in the original; Hugo Weaving; Jerome Flynn
The man who should be renamed Australia’s human-chameleon – we couldn’t go past Hugo Weaving as the devious yet lovable crook Fagin. Jerome Flynn, best known for his role as Bronn in HBO’s Game of Thrones, was also in a band called ‘Robson & Jerome’, and is also a contender to play Fagin.
Oliver Reed as the original Bill Sikes; Jude Law; Iwan Rheon; Jake Gyllenhaal
Iwan Rheon, best known for playing Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones and Simon Bellamy in the show Misfits, well and truly capable of that dark and dangerous look. As for Jude Law and Jake Gyllenhaal, both have the right look to pull off the Sikes’ brutish nature.
Shani Wallis as Nancy; Emily Blunt; Kate Winslet
While Adele is has already been reportedly offered the role of Nancy, we couldn’t help thinking of alternatives for the part. With their amazing voices, Emily Blunt or Kate Winslet would be perfect! Blunt is already starring in a Mary Poppins remake coming out next year, and won hearts with her enchanting performance in Into The Woods.
