X-Men: Days of Future Past has lost one of its main characters. Today, director Bryan Singer has announced that Rogue has been cut from the film during the editing process.
Considering Anna’s fame has risen due to her role in the hit series True Blood, it does make you wonder why her role was so small in the film, and why her part had to be even cut.
To answer these questions, Singer released the following statement: “Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it.”
The scene in question is said to be of a rescue involving Rouge, Iceman, Xavier and Magneto. As for whether or not Anna and Rouge will return for X-Men Apocalypse, remains to be seen.
X-Men: Days of Past will be hitting cinemas in May 2014.
