BBC Earth’s Planet Earth II Live in Concert Coming to Australia

Stunning footage from the EMMY® and BAFTA award-winning Sir David Attenborough narrated series PLANET EARTH II forms the backdrop to a mesmerising symphony orchestra performance of Academy Award® Winner Hans Zimmer’s remarkable score.

Narrated live by one of Australia’s best known actors, Eric Bana

BBC Worldwide Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) and TEG Live today announced they are bringing Planet Earth II Live in Concert to Australia in 2018 with single performances in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. The show, narrated live by Australian actor Eric Bana, features breath-taking footage from the acclaimed BBC Earth series projected on a giant screen with Australia’s leading orchestras performing the incredible music live with conductor, Vanessa Scammell.

• 27 April: Perth Arena with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra
• 29 April: Plenary, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre with the Melbourne Pops Orchestra
• 1 May: Brisbane Entertainment Centre with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra
• 4 May: International Convention Centre, Sydney with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra

Produced by BBC Studio’s acclaimed Natural History Unit and presented by Sir David Attenborough, Planet Earth II was filmed over three years using advanced technology, elevating natural history to a whole new level and allowing audiences to experience nature from a completely new angle – closer, more immersive and more surprising than ever before. The stunning footage is set to a beautiful score by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea & Jasha Klebe for Bleeding Fingers Music.

Now Planet Earth II Live in Concert will take the audience on a journey to the most spectacular landscape, cities and habitats on Earth and bring them eye-to-eye with the animals that live there. From rubbing shoulders with our acrobatic primate cousins in the steaming jungles of Madagascar, racing alongside fearsome hunting lions in the remote sandy deserts of Namibia, facing stormy Antarctic seas with a family of penguins and feeling the raw tension as a baby iguana tries to escape the clutches of deadly racer snakes to witnessing dancing grizzly bears and the bravery of a mother snow leopard.

Zimmer is renowned for his work on the likes of Gladiator, Interstellar and Blade Runner 2049, but said that the landmark BBC series stood out amongst his work. “Planet Earth II is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever been involved in: some of the greatest action scenes ever put on film, some of the most emotional, epic, fragile scenes I’ve ever witnessed. Filmmaking at its absolute peak.”
