It has been 20 years since the last movie, but the long awaited 4th installment of Beverly Hills Cop is set grace our screens soon-ish.
After going back and forth for years, Paramount studios have finally confirmed the release date and Murphy’s return as the wisecracking cop, Axel Foley. Director Brett Ratner, best known for Xmen: The Last Stand and Rush Hour, has signed on to direct the film. Considering his success with combining action and comedy in Rush Hour, Paramount seem to have picked wisely.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, revealed that it won’t just be set in Los Angeles, but they are planning on taking him back to Detroit as well. No further casting or script news has been confirmed yet. Shooting was set to begin in a couple of months, but that has been delayed until early next year.
The original Beverly Hills Cop film was released back in 1984, with a sequel following in 1987 and the third film released in 1994.
Beverly Hills Cop 4 will be released in March 2016. It will be certainly interesting to see if this installment will be as succesful as the last three, given the massive gap between them.
