BLACK PANTHER may have disappeared from your little local cinema, but it’s still making history nearly two months after it first opened in theatres.

The latest milestone? The Disney and Marvel superhero tentpole passed James Cameron’s TITANIC on Saturday. This ranks BLACK PANTHER as the third top-grossing title of all time at the North American box office. Note these figures are not adjusted for inflation, however, and remember; TITANIC sailed in to theatres in 1997….when average US cinema ticket prices were $4.59 (as opposed to the $9 Americans shell out now)

BLACK PANTHER finished Friday with a US domestic total of $659.3 million US, just shy of the $659.5 million grossed by TITANIC at the same point in it’s run.

BLACK PANTHER still slinks behind STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS ($936.7 million US) and AVATAR ($760.5 million US).

Globally, BLACK PANTHER has grossed $1.29 billion, ranking as the No. 10 title of all time.

Sian's love for movies spawned from having a tight mother whose generosity stretched only to hiring movies once a week for entertainment. As a pre-teen Sian spent more pocket money then she earned on cinema tickets and thus sought a job at the cinema. Over the next decade she rose to be one of the greats in her backwater, six-screen cinema complex, zooming through the ranks from candy bar wench with upselling superpowers, to pasty projectionist, to a manager rocking a pencil skirt. Sian went on to study Journalism at university though feels her popcorn shovelling days were far more educational
