At AccessReel, we love a good sequel. Unlike some folks, we would like many more sequels, prequels, requels, reboots and reimaginings to hit the world’s cinema screens than the scanty crop currently on offer; Forrest Gump 2, Speed 3, Beverly Hills Cop IV, front and centre! And no, none of these have been announced (although all have been discussed on the Internets and in boardrooms).
We were particularly concerned that the Blade Runner sequel might not get out of the starting blocks, however the word is that it will now arrive a little faster than the announced January 2018 date.
The, as yet unnamed, second instalment to Ridley Scott’s 1982 science fiction cult classic, will arrive on American screens and possibly skyscrapers and airships on October 2017.
Hampton Fancher and David Peoples wrote the original film adapted from Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.” Fancher has co-written the sequel with Michael Green. Blade Runner star, Harrison Ford returns and will be supported by Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Ryan Gosling. Denis Vileneuve (SICARIO) will direct.
