Some of Britain’s biggest stars are heading to Australian cinemas. The first highlights from the 2026 Russell Hobbs British Film Festival have now been revealed.
Presented by Palace in association with Luna Palace Cinemas, this year’s festival covers drama, documentary, comedy and more.
Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Andrew Garfield, Bill Nighy, Richard E. Grant and Claire Foy are among the stars featured in the first wave of films.
In Perth, the British Film Festival 2026 will screen from 5 November to 6 December. Venues include Palace Cinemas Raine Square, Luna Leederville, Luna on SX in Fremantle and Windsor Cinema in Nedlands.
Olivia Colman And Alexander Skarsgård Star In Wicker
First up is Wicker, a romantic comedy starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård.
The film follows an ostracised fisherwoman who wishes an unconventional husband into her life. However, his arrival soon creates chaos, jealousy and outrage in her close-knit community.
Andrew Garfield Leads The Uprising
Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield leads The Uprising, a historical action drama set in the 14th century.
Garfield plays a grief-stricken labourer who sparks a peasant rebellion against the Crown. As the conflict grows, thousands join the fight for justice and survival.
The film also stars Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane and Katherine Waterston.
The Uprising will screen as an Australian Premiere at the festival.

Sir Michael Parkinson Remembered In Parky
British television legend Sir Michael Parkinson is celebrated in Parky.
The documentary looks back at the man widely known as the king of the chat show. Across five decades, Parkinson became one of Britain’s most loved television interviewers.
In addition, the film explores the person behind the famous television persona. It does so through Parkinson’s own words and the people who knew him best.
His interview subjects included Muhammad Ali, Billy Connolly, Kylie Minogue, Bob Hawke, Madonna and Sir David Attenborough. Many of those memorable encounters also feature in the documentary.
Parky will screen as a World Premiere at the festival.
Richard E. Grant And Claire Foy Enter Savage House
Richard E. Grant and Claire Foy lead Savage House, a dark comedy about greed, ambition and power.
Set in 18th-century England, the film follows two desperate social climbers. They are willing to sacrifice almost anything to host the dinner party of their dreams.
As a result, the film turns social ambition into a sharp and lavish period comedy.
Savage House will screen as an Australian Premiere.

Bill Nighy Takes An Emotional Journey In 500 Miles
Also in the line-up is 500 Miles, starring Bill Nighy.
The family drama follows two young boys who set out on a major journey. Their goal is to reunite with their estranged grandfather.
The film was shot across Ireland, including Dublin and the Dingle Peninsula. Along the way, it explores the things that can divide a family and the things that can bring it back together.
500 Miles will screen as an Australian Premiere.

Mother’s Pride Brings Family, Second Chances And Community
Finally, writer-director Nick Moorcraft returns with Mother’s Pride. His previous credits include Fisherman’s Friends: One and All.
Jonno Davies stars as Cal, who returns to his small hometown searching for purpose and connection.
After a run of bad luck, Cal turns his attention to his family’s pub. With the business close to shutting its doors, he sets out to save it.
Mother’s Pride will screen as an Australian Premiere.

British Film Festival 2026 Perth Dates And Venues
The Russell Hobbs British Film Festival opens in Perth on Thursday 5 November. It runs until Sunday 6 December 2026.
Perth screenings will take place at:
