We’re just getting our head around Dwayne Johnson being the new Mitch of BAYWATCH. Now, global icon Johnson will lead the cast of the movie SKYSCRAPER as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Ford, who assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China, he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he’s been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building…above the fire line.
Written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber (Central Intelligence, We’re the Millers), who apparently didn’t pitch it as “Die Hard in a building crossed with The Towering Inferno,” the 3D action-thriller is produced by Beau Flynn (San Andreas, Baywatch), Johnson and Thurber. This looks like the action star-vehicle that Johnson fans have been hungering for. His looks and charisma have been adorning world cinema for years now, but AccessReel firmly believes that The Rock (don’t call him that) needs to punch some bad dudes, kick bad some dudes and shoot bad some dudes. It’s time.
SKYSCRAPER will loom large in July 2018.
