CinefestOZ 2021 is now open for entries!

One of our favourite film festivals in Australia is now open for business! CinefestOZ film festival (25 – 29 August) is now accepting film submissions for the 2021 festival. Find out all the details below. 

Categories for Australian films and Australian co-productions are:

  • $100,000 Film Prize
  • Official Selection –  for narrative and documentary feature length films
  • Short films
  • VR/XR/AR

CinefestOZ film festival will be held in the iconic Margaret River tourism region and throughout Western Australia’s South West.  It provides the ultimate integrated film culture experience by showcasing an exciting curation of new Australian films, paired with the region’s celebrated local produce, beverages and hospitality. 
 
Celebratory premiere screenings of films, followed by In-Conversation events at exceptional South West locations, are festival highlights, along with a special presentation evening on Saturday 28 August. 
 
The CinefestOZ Film Prize is internationally recognised for awarding excellence in Australian feature film with $100,000. Submissions must be a WA premiere to be eligible. The short film program is an exciting opportunity for Australian filmmakers to showcase their short form productions and offer further diversity to the festival audience. The Short Film Competition categories are Best Short (must be a WA Premiere), Best Indigenous, Best WA, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Screenwriter.  Indigenous filmmakers are encouraged to submit in all film categories.

Short films are screened at CinefestOZ in cinemas, wineries, restaurants and bars throughout the South West, offering opportunities for filmmakers to interact with their audience.
 
In 2020, the festival spearheaded the premiere of WA films RAMS and Dirt Music and also saw the introduction of the Short Film Awards. Overcoming the hurdle of 2020, CinefestOZ presented more than 63 in-person film related events and 19 online events at cinemas making it a truly diverse and very Australian destination film festival.
