D23 2026 has wrapped in Anaheim, and Disney has revealed a huge slate of movies heading to cinemas over the next few years.
Marvel unveiled its new X-Men. Robert Downey Jr. brought Doctor Doom to the stage. Ryan Gosling gave fans their first glimpse of Star Wars: Starfighter.
Pixar had Incredibles 3 and Coco 2. Disney Animation revealed more from Frozen 3. And for Australian fans, we finally got our first teaser for The Bluey Movie.
There was a lot to take in, so here are the movie announcements that mattered most from D23 2026.
Marvel Finally Unveils Its New X-Men
Marvel Studios delivered one of the biggest reveals of the weekend by introducing its new X-Men team.
Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey after making her debut as the character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

She will be joined by Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Storm.
Adam Driver will play Nathaniel Milbury, better known as Mister Sinister.
Director Jake Schreier joined Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige and Sink for the presentation. Schreier previously directed Thunderbolts*.
The new X-Men movie is currently scheduled for May 5, 2028.
Doctor Doom Takes Over Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel also used D23 to give fans another major look at Avengers: Doomsday.
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell joined Kevin Feige on stage before the new footage was revealed.
The special look places Downey’s Doctor Doom firmly at the centre of the action. It also brings together heroes from the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men worlds.
Chris Hemsworth’s Thor comes face-to-face with Doom, while Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter are both back.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in Australian cinemas on December 17, 2026.
Ryan Gosling Leads Star Wars: Starfighter
Lucasfilm also brought one of its biggest upcoming theatrical releases to D23.
Director Shawn Levy appeared alongside Ryan Gosling to introduce Star Wars: Starfighter.
The D23 crowd was shown an exclusive teaser for the standalone adventure.
Gosling plays a cynical rogue whose mysterious past sends him on a dangerous journey across the galaxy.
The cast also includes Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings, Flynn Gray and Amy Adams.
Star Wars: Starfighter is written by Jonathan Tropper and is currently scheduled for May 28, 2027.

Incredibles 3 Brings the Parr Family Back
Pixar kicked off its movie reveals with the first look at Incredibles 3.
The Parr children are expected to play an even larger role in the third adventure.
Peter Sohn is directing, while Brad Bird and Dana Murray are producing. Bird wrote and directed the first two films.
Incredibles 3 will arrive in cinemas on June 16, 2028.

Coco 2 Sends Miguel Back to the Land of the Dead
Pixar also revealed more about Coco 2.
Miguel is now a teenager, and his next adventure will send him back to the Land of the Dead.
Benjamin Bratt appeared on stage to confirm that Ernesto de la Cruz will return.
Original director Lee Unkrich is also back alongside co-director Adrian Molina, with Mark Nielsen producing.
Coco 2 is currently scheduled for November 2029.

Frozen 3 Teases a New Threat for Elsa
Disney Animation closed the showcase with one of the night’s biggest moments.
Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad reunited on stage for Frozen 3.
Bell and Menzel performed a new version of “Frozen Heart”. Gad also performed a new Olaf song called “Ooooh, Samantha.”
Disney then showed new animation featuring Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven.
The footage also teased a mysterious new villainess whose powers may rival Elsa’s.
Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy are directing, with Christina Chen producing.
Frozen 3 arrives in cinemas on November 24, 2027.

The Bluey Movie Gets Its First Teaser
For Australian audiences, this was always going to be a big one.
Disney debuted the first teaser for The Bluey Movie at D23.
The CG-animated movie follows Bluey and her family through an action-packed day when a major surprise changes everything.
Series creator Joe Brumm is writing and directing the movie. Ludo Studio is producing alongside BBC Studios.
Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack return as Chilli and Bandit.
The Bluey Movie arrives in cinemas on August 6, 2027.
Lilo & Stitch 2 Brings Angel Into Live Action
After the live-action Lilo & Stitch crossed US$1 billion worldwide, Disney is already moving ahead with a sequel.
D23 gave fans their first tease of Angel alongside Stitch.
Lilo & Stitch 2 is due to begin production in Hawaiʻi later this year.
Chris Sanders will direct. Sanders co-created and co-directed the original 2002 animated film and also provides the voice of Stitch.
The sequel will open in cinemas on May 26, 2028.

And That’s Not All Disney Announced
The headline reveals weren’t the only movies shown at D23.
- Ghost Market – Pixar’s new original movie follows a boy who discovers a hidden Hawaiian market serving spirits trapped between life and death. It is planned for March 2028.
- Gatto – Mark Ruffalo voices Nero, a black cat living in Venice who owes a debt to a feline crime boss voiced by Laurence Fishburne. It opens March 5, 2027.
- Zootopia 3 – Disney Animation confirmed that a third film is now in early development. No release date has been announced.
- Tangled – Teagan Croft stars as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider in Disney’s live-action remake. Kathryn Hahn plays Mother Gothel. It arrives March 31, 2028.
- Ice Age: Boiling Point – Manny, Sid, Diego and the gang return for another adventure, this time featuring dinosaurs, lava and Jurassic Scrat. It opens February 5, 2027.
- The Simpsons Movie – Disney also previewed the next theatrical adventure for Springfield’s most famous family. It is currently scheduled for September 3, 2027.
D23 2026 Sets Up Disney’s Next Few Years
The sheer number of announcements was huge, but a few clearly stood above the rest.
Marvel finally has its next generation of X-Men. Doctor Doom is heading towards the Avengers. Ryan Gosling is leading a new theatrical Star Wars adventure.
Meanwhile, Pixar has some of its biggest franchises returning alongside new original movies.
Disney Animation has Frozen 3 and Zootopia 3 moving forward, while Bluey is preparing to make the leap from television to the big screen.
If D23 2026 proved anything, Disney’s movie slate is going to be very busy for the next few years.
