Danger Girl Casting Rumours

The Danger Girl comics series was originally released under the ‘Cliffhanger’ label along with other series premieres ‘Battlechasers’ and ‘Crimson’. Created by J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell ‘Danger Girl’ was an action-adventure series featuring a team of all girl super spies travelling the world and completing missions against a variety of villains including the neo-Axis group known as ‘The Hammer’.

Whilst popular the series experienced regular long delays with only seven issues released in a matter of a few years. The main series wrapped up at the end of the seventh issue however since then a number of one-shots and mini-series have been released.

Various rumours have been circulating in recent years indicating that a feature film adaptation of the series is in the works, however no concrete announcements have ever surfaced. It’s likely that the new ‘Charlie’s Angels’ films would have filled a very similar role to what a ‘Danger Girl’ film would have been aiming for however whether this was a factor in its delay or not is just speculation.

Fresh rumours have recently been reported however regarding potential casting news for the film giving a sign that perhaps there still is some momentum behind the project. Reports have stated that ‘Milla Jovovich’, ‘Kate Beckinsale’ and ‘Sofia Vergara’, are attached to play the lead roles in the potential film.

You can see ‘Milla Jovovich’ and ‘Kate Beckinsale’ in action in their respective franchises ‘Resident Evil’ and ‘Underworld’, ‘Sofia Vergara’ can be seen on the TV series ‘Modern Family’ and is involved in the new ‘Smurfs’ film.

No mention so far on a potential release date for a ‘Danger Girl’ film.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
