The sequel to the wildly popular anti-hero movie has begun filming with a new director and some interesting rumors swirling around regarding casting. It was only recently that director Tim Miller, who directed the first Deadpool, left “amicably” due to “creative differences” with Ryan Reynolds. Composer Tom Holkenborg (JunkieXL) left soon after. Miller’s sudden exit had fans wondering about the future of the sequel but Fox quickly signed David Leitch on to take over from Miller.
David Leitch has an impressive resume as a stunt actor and coordinator, having worked on movies such as X-Men Origins, The Bourne franchise, as well as The Matrix Trilogy.
He has also worked as a second unit director on a long list of movies which includes the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Captain America: Civil War, Jurrassic World, John Wick and The Midnight Meat Train. It is expected that Leitch will bring more intricate ultimate fight choreography to the sequel.
No plot details have been released but there are rumors of possible casting of Stephen Lang and Dolph Lundgren.
The good news is that we do have an official release date of January 2018 for Deadool 2.
Fox has already started to work on Deadpool 3 with the X-Force team set to be involved.
