Debate Over The Amazing Spiderman 2 Director

Well done Marc Webb! The Amazing Spiderman is only his second stint as a feature film director, yet it appears his talents are appreciated, with Sony wanting to sign him for the film’s sequel. Yet this is a man in demand! Webb is already contracted to Fox Searchlight and they want more before they’ll lend him to Sony again.

It’s a hard life isn’t it Mr Webb? There are millions of aspiring directors out there not getting so much as a Kmart commercial and here you have studios fighting over you.

Webb first impressed audiences with his feature film directorial debut 500 Days of Summer. The film, produced by Fox Searchlight, as part of the contract with Webb, committed him to directing atleast one more film for the studio. Fox gave Webb ‘time off’ to direct Spiderman, but they are reluctant to give him another couple of years for number 2.

Reportedly Fox will consider giving Webb the time needed for the Spidey sequel if he signs a contract to make two more films for them afterwards. But Webb is a little hesitant to make such a long-term commitment.

Decisions must be made with Sony already announcing the Spidey 2 release date for May 2 2014. Production needs to get underway…

Sian went on to study Journalism at university though feels her popcorn shovelling days were far more educational
