The next film in the Maze Runner series “The Death Cure” has been delayed by around a year following the injury of series star Dylan O’Brien during production of the sequel.
Filming in Vancouver, there are few confirmed details on the nature of the injury (which occurred back in March) however there’s plenty of speculation about a stunt gone wrong, resulting in broken bones and a possible cheek bone fracture.
Irrespective of the exact nature of the injuries, 20th Century Fox have now announced that production is on hiatus until Dylan has recovered, at which point it’s planned for the film to be back on track and targeting a January 2018 release window (back from the previous February 2017 planned release date).
The Death Cure is the third film in the Maze Runner franchise, with the original and the first sequel (The Scorch Trials) having been released in 2014 and 2015 respectively. The newest film is being directed by Wes Ball.
