It super strange news that has just dropped this morning Phil Lord and Christopher Miller the directors of the standalone Han Solo movie have just pulled out of the film even though its been filming since January.
Phil and Christopher have made a statement – “Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,”
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm has returned with “Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon,”.
This is quite concerning considering how far into the shoot it is and in all honesty the shoot should be wrapping up pretty damn soon. So what happened? Obviously Lucasfilm have a story team who basically come up with the stories in the connected universe, seem’s Phil and Christoper didn’t like the whole “films made by committee” which no doubt a Star Wars film is and the direction they wanted to take the film was different from Lucasfilm’s.
Lets hope this doesn’t hinder the film, I suppose we will find out May next year.
