Disney Breeds Princesses

Disney Breeds Princesses

Dig out your tiara: Disney urges you to celebrate your inner princess at the Disney Princess Film Festival.

If you’ve been to see a Disney film at the cinemas lately (and are a film nerd like me that has to watch every ad and trailer before the film) you’ll most probably have seen the ‘I Am a Princess’ campaign ads.

I’ll be honest: Disney knows how to market itself. It’s a gorgeous and inspiring ad that you think will lead on to tell you about some amazing children’s charity or program…but nope: it’s just consumerism promotion at it’s best.

Still, it has succeeded at getting me very excited about the upcoming Princess Film Festival to be held at Event and Villages cinemas in Feb/March.

Disney invites everyone to “celebrate the princess in every girl” with weekend sessions of past classics such as Aladdin, Cinderella, Pocahontas and Mulan on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30pm to 2:00pm, tickets are only $8.00.

Sian's love for movies spawned from having a tight mother whose generosity stretched only to hiring movies once a week for entertainment. As a pre-teen Sian spent more pocket money then she earned on cinema tickets and thus sought a job at the cinema. Over the next decade she rose to be one of the greats in her backwater, six-screen cinema complex, zooming through the ranks from candy bar wench with upselling superpowers, to pasty projectionist, to a manager rocking a pencil skirt. Sian went on to study Journalism at university though feels her popcorn shovelling days were far more educational
