Disney has announced it will pull all of its movies from Netflix and launch branded Disney content on its own streaming service.
The direct-to-consumer streaming service will launch in the U.S. in 2019 with other regions to follow. The deal will include Disney Channel shows, ABC (the American network) shows, Pixar movies, Toy Story 4, Frozen 2 and the upcoming live-action Lion King. Movies from Marvel and Lucasfilm will also leave Netflix, but it appears Marvel TV properties (i.e. Jessica Jones, Daredevil,Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders) will not be affected by the decision.
The pull-out will not hit Australian and New Zealand Netflix in the same time-frame as the U.S. It is likely that Disney content will remain in Australia and New Zealand until a separate deal is reached specific to this territory.
