A couple of months ago news outlets were reporting that Summit Entertainment were shopping around for a Oscar Nominated Director for the fourth installment of Twilight – Breaking Dawn. Names that where thrown around were Gus Van Sant(Milk, Paranoid Park, Elephant) and Sofia Coppola(Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette) just to name a couple.
Summit Entertainment has confirmed today that Academy Award winner Bill Condon will direct The Twilight Saga:Breaking Dawn and that it will be broken up into two films. Bill Condon, is best known for directing the Oscar winning movie, Dreamgirls in 2006. The fourth twilight film is currently being written by Melissa Rosenberg, who also penned New Moon, the first twilight film and hit TV shows such as Dexter and The O.C.
In a comment by Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions for Summit Enterainment he said “Bringing Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity”
Bill Condon also made a comment regarding the film “I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book – and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience,”
Part 1 of Breaking Dawn hits cinemas next year, but you can catch The Twilight Saga:Eclipse in Australian Cinemas on the 1st July and American Cinemas 30th June.
