Alongside the highly anticipated release of Beauty and The Beast comes the announcement of an upcoming live-action film of Dumbo by Tim Burton. The live-action version of Dumbo is based on the 1941 Disney animation about a cruelly mocked baby elephant with big ears. The script is yet to be finalised but the movie has already attracted great talents such as Will Smith and Tom Hanks – who are in talks with Disney to join the cast.
If successful, Will Smith will play the father of children who befriend the beautiful elephant and Tom Hanks would be taking on the role of central villain.
No further information has been released about either roles or the script, which is being penned by Ehren Kruger, best known for his work on Scream 3 and Transformer movies. Kruger is a peculiar choice for such a story considering all of his credits are horror and action.
Disney has yet to announce a release date for Dumbo but we do know this project is definitely going ahead. We will keep you updated as we hear more news on the development of this film.
