As you know, AccessReelers, the Harry Potter film series has finished. Stick a wand in it and turn it over, it’s done. However Warner Bros. have been developing material based on JK Rowling’s other writings set in the wizarding world. Namely, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This film will be set in 1920s New York, so predates Potter and his chums by some 90 years. Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) has been cast as Newt Scamander, the lead character in Rowling‘s book.
Scamander, is the wizarding world’s preeminent magizoologist, who has encountered and documented a myriad of magical creatures, ultimately leading to his penning the Hogwarts School textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Making her screenwriting debut on the film, J.K. Rowling will be co-writing with Steve Kloves, who penned all but one of the eight Potter screenplays. David Yates, who directed the last four “Harry Potter” films will direct this. The Fantastic Beasts series will consist of three movies. It’s currently set for release November 18, 2016 with the next two installments are dated for 2018 and 2019.
