It was announced in Cannes today that Joel Edgerton will write and star in an upcoming Australian film called FELONY. Edgerton will play a decorated police officer who lies about running a cyclist off the road and sets shattering events into motion. The film will start shooting in October and will be directed by Matthew Saville who made the feature NOISE (2007). Saville is also known for his work on the TV movie of Graham Kennedy’s life THE KING (2007) and for directing Showtime Australia’s miniseries CLOUDSTREET (2011). Edgerton has recently been seen in the Australian feature WISH YOU WERE HERE (2012) and has been filming Baz Luhrmann’s THE GREAT GATSBY.
