Expendables 3 talk

The Expendables 2 is due to hit screens on Thursday 30th August, just a few weeks away and there is already talk of a third instalment in the series with a number of new potential cast members to be added to the list. The Expendables was released in the second half of 2010 to modest financial success and less than stellar reviews, however the franchise steamed ahead straight into its first sequel.

But what actors remain to throw into the mix of old school action heroes for a third film? Reportedly Clint Eastwood is being courted for a role in Expendables 3, other names being thrown about at this point include Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Nicolas Cage.

Stallone fans would no doubt recall Snipes co-starring with him in the sci/fi action film Demolition Man, and Ford, Eastwood and Cage have all starred in their fair share of action flicks, though the cast member archetype appears to be widening up somewhat with each subsequent instalment, something that was inevitable as Stallone works his way through the list of action stars for his series.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
