Fast and the Furious 6

It seems there is just no stopping this franchise which started way back in 2001 and has since spawned four sequels to date with a fifth sequel on the way. Despite mixed critical responses for each of the films the financial success cannot be denied with ‘Fast Five’ generating approximately $630 million in worldwide box office revenues.

Justin Lin has been the series mainstay director since ‘The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift’, and is also attached to the new film. Lin has revealed through his twitter account that principle photography on the new film has begun, you can see his exact tweet below;

It’s 2am & just got up for the 1st day of FF6. Always love the calm & silence of the night b4 going on set. Let’s go shoot a f@#kin’ movie!

‘Fast and the Furious 6’ sees the return of series leads Vin Diesel and Paul Walker as well as other returning cast members including Dwayne Johnson, Jordanna Brewster, and Tyrese Gibson. It has also been announced that ‘The Raid’ star Joe Taslim will appear in the film.

The plot was largely hinted at in the concluding minutes of ‘Fast Five’, particularly the post-credits scene. ‘Fast and the Furious 6’ is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2013.

Leith spent most of his formative years growing up on the coastal fringes of Western Australia without a cinema in sight. There he grew up on the wonders of home rentals before relocating to Perth and gaining access to a proper cinematic experience just in time for the Star Wars Special Edition re-releases. From there Leith's love of movies expanded to volunteering on a Star Wars fan film, reviewing films, writing about film news, and attending film and pop-culture related conventions on the other side of the world. Leith's favourite films are too many to mention but all start with the Star Wars saga, Back to the Future, the Dark Knight trilogy, Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings and all things Kevin Smith. With an insatiable appetite for all things pop-culture related Leith also has an unhealthy addiction to the world of comics and can often be found buried under a pile of unread back issues madly trying to catch up on a number of titles coming out from mostly DC and Darkhorse.
