The first official picture of the James McTeigue’s “The Raven” has been released. Currently in production The Raven follows Edgar Allan Poe who is searching for a serial killer whilst discovering that the murder methods seem to have been taken straight out of the pages of his own short stories. The film is still awaiting a release date but that doesn’t make me any less excited about it.
I am not only a huge Edgar Allan Poe fan but also a devout fan of the star of the film Mr John Cusack. Cusack who plays Poe in the film seems like an odd choice but as seen above he appears to carry the character with elegance and class, he looks quite a lot like him and although John Looks taller than other incarnations of him, Poe was actually 5 ft 8 in real life. Other cast credits include Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Alice Eve and Luke Evans.
The fact that I loved John Cusacks’s dramatic performance in Stephen King’s 1408, stifles any qualms I have with him playing this character in such a dark and poetic atmosphere. Poe has been a great vehicle for actors to prove their acting prowess, notable mentions being Klaus Kinski and (my favorite) Jeffrey Coombs. I will be posting more information as it becomes available.
