Wow, it feels like 1988 again!
With the Nightmare franchise being all but killed off due to the misfire that was Freddy Vs. Jason (No Kane Hodder???) in 2003, it looked like we’d never see the O.G. Dream Stalker on the big screen again.
Cut to 7 years later and Platinum Dunes has brought our favourite Four Clawed Serial Killer back from the grave for a brand new outing, albeit in remake form.
Not only is Freddy back (with Jackie Earle Haley taking over the role made (in)famous by the legendary Robert England), but he has managed do do something not seen since 1991. Freddy Krueger is back in the #1 spot at the box office.
With Iron Man 2 taking the world over this last weekend, chances are that Freddy’s reign of terror won’t last more than one weekend, but it’s great to see that there’s still life in the old guy yet.
It opens in Australia on May 20th and although I am not a fan of remakes, all signs point to it being as wild and as trippy as the first Elm St.
