Fridey at the Hydey

Fridey at the Hydey

This weekend the Luna Outdoor and Indoor will be showing a myriad of music movies of a documentary nature. This flock of factual film is the Gimme Some Truth Music Documentary Festival and is presented by RTRFM.  The varied program is global and local. This Sunday will be your chance to see FRIDEY AT THE HYDEY.

Fridey at the Hydey explores a venue with a unique place in Perth music history. See its rise and fall, its punks and local characters, and ultimate corporate takeover.  This documentary deals with the loss of culture in Perth at the hands of local councils and globalisation, and reflects on a place that oddballs called home.

The Hydey became synonymous with punk rock, and although this left the pub with a particular reputation, Fridey at the Hydey chronicles the real story; not only the blood, sweat and tears that were poured into the The Hydey by its owners, employees, punters and the bands that played there, but also and most importantly, the love that they all still hold in their hearts for the “grotty little pub” that will live on beyond its regrettable demise.

Fridey at the Hydey stars The Homicides, The Magoos and The Panics. It is directed by Lindsay Hallam and produced by Travis Johnson. The documentary will be followed by a Q&A session with filmmakers, musicians & industry gurus.

Check it out on Sunday 1st December, 8.00pm, Luna Outdoor Cinema, Leederville.
