As soon as my thespian Mother saw the movie FROZEN, she kept raving about how it simply had to be adapted to a stage show. Well, here you are Mum; you didn’t have to wait long!
As the raging success of FROZEN continues, Disney is being cautious with how they exploit the title (whilst still promoting a steady flow of profit!). They’re slowly but surely rolling the film and its characters into theme parks and, while there are no immediate plans for a sequel, a short film will be out in March.
It’s the FROZEN stage show that has gained the most momentum, with Disney officially announcing its writers, songwriters and director.
The writer and director will be Jennifer Lee, the co-director of the film. Then Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the Oscar-winning duo behind the songs in the original film, are doing the songs for the show. So FROZEN fans can feel confident the musical is in capable, familiar hands.
There is a rumour we can expect release in 2017 but, at the time of publishing, no official date has been announced….
